Brighton-based five-piece Happy2000 have released an impressive new single in the form of ‘Behind Closed Doors’. Over its nearly six-minute running time, the track wanders from the gritty guitar work of its opening moments, through punchy synth lines and chanted vocals, and into a sharp, punk-adjacent outro that allows the band to descend into noisy chaos. “This song is about a father of two kids who looks and acts like the boy about town, but he is feral and sadistic and will do anything he can to come out on top,” they say. “It’s a story that many people will know.” The band, who have supported the likes of Fontaines D.C. and Italia 90, are heading out on a four-date tour of the UK this September and will be dropping more new music soon. -Dan Peeke.
